What did we learn in Year 1?

One of the things we're most proud of here in microWild is that we have been able to help others learn about Ireland's incredible invertebrates.

This year, we held the following workshops, courses and field outings:

  1. Exploring Irish Harvestmen (March)
  2. Family Bug Safari (April)
  3. Irish Bees for Beginners (May)
  4. An Introduction to Irish Hoverflies (June)
  5. Seilg Feithidí - Bug Hunt as Gaeilge (July)
  6. An Introduction to Irish Craneflies (September)

Each of the events was really well attended and it was just so validating to see the passion and interest of the attendees, not just in the subject of the course or workshop, but Irish flora and fauna in general. We spent so much time just walking the estate and talking about everything we saw.

We're already working on a schedule of courses for 2025, with some exciting announcements to follow!

This couldn't have taken place without the generous time and effort of the course instructors, in order of appearance:

Joshua Clarke (Harvestmen)

Owen Becket (Hoverflies)

Ryan Mitchell (Craneflies)
